Mustang Football Fundraising Mustang Football/Cheer Car Wash
- What is this event?
- The Mustang Football/Cheer Car Wash is a fund raising event in which the football and cheer booster groups partner, each group raising funds separately, but working together on the day of the car wash. The car wash provides significant support to both the football and cheer programs.
- The tickets are five dollars each and players are expected to sell all ten tickets. Each ticket is good for a car wash and also has a discount coupon to one of our football sponsors.
- Who participates?
- All football players, cheerleaders, football coaching staff, and parents and other family members from football and cheer.
- How are the tickets distributed to the players?
- Ticket packets are distributed to the players two to three weeks before the event, which is usually held in late September. The packets contain ten tickets, an instruction sheet, and an envelope to turn in money collected and any unsold tickets.
- What takes place on the day of the car wash?
- We wash cars from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. During this time we can expect to wash 300-350 cars. We schedule players and parents from 9:00AM to 4:00PM to help with set-up and clean-up.
- Junior Varsity 9:30am – 12:00pm
Freshmen 11:30am – 2:00pm
Varsity 1:30pm – 4:00pm
- Anyone who can come early or stay late is especially appreciated; there is a lot to do setting up in the morning and putting things away at the end of the day.
- What can parents and other family members do to help?
- While the players and cheerleaders do the washing, there are many opportunities for family members who would like to help. Some of them include:
- Supervising the washing, rinsing, and drying: we will have a lot of cars to wash, so it is important to keep the kids on task and avoid falling behind
- Handling money and tickets
- Staffing the Mustang Merchandise booth
- Overseeing the lunch that is available for players and cheerleaders
- Keeping the drying area supplied with dry towels
- Is food available?
- Lunch (pizza and sodas) is available for five dollars for those working at the car wash. We do not operate the snack stand for this event.
- What else goes on?
- Mustang Merchandise will be available and the cheerleaders may also have some fund raising activities of their own, such as a bake sale.
- Why should I volunteer to get involved in the car wash?
- Because this is the most fun and least work of any of the booster activities. Come and have fun with your son and his teammates, the cheerleaders and other football and cheer families.
- How can I volunteer?
- Contact the Car Wash Coordinator, Rex Atwell.
