Don Morrow
Varsity Head Coach
Don Morrow begins his 19th year as head coach of the Mustangs. His teams have averaged ten wins per season during his coaching tenure. The Mustangs have also been CIF finalists eight times and have won the CIF championship in 1993, 1997, and 2009.
Coach Morrow grew up in Manhattan Beach and attended Aviation High School where he was an All CIF quarterback. He also lettered in baseball and basketball. He went on to become an All Conference quarterback at El Camino College and then became a two-year starter for California State University at Northridge. At CSUN, he earned a degree in Chemistry as well as a Teaching Credential. Currently, he teaches Chemistry for the MCHS Science Department.
Mustang teams under Coach Morrow are known for their attacking, hard-hitting defense, and a diverse, balanced offense. They strive for mistake-free football and work very hard in the kicking game. He stresses sportsmanship and “Mustang Class” while coaching football. Morrow’s teams have averaged more than five All Leaguers per season, with over 40 All Area performers during his tenure. More than 30 players have landed All CIF honors, including nine CIF Players of the Year.
Coach Morrow has been married 29 years to the former Roxanne Galloro (Aviation, class of 1977). They reside in Torrance with their three boys: Taylor, Jackson, and Harrison.

Ray Lee
Varsity Defensive Coordinator
Ray Lee returns for his 19th season as a coach at Mira Costa and his18th season as Varsity Defensive Coordinator.
Coach Lee’s 18 seasons as Defensive Coordinator have been highlighted by seven CIF Final appearances and two CIF Championships. During Coach Lee’s tenure as defensive line coach, 24 of his linemen have received All League honors, ten have received All Area recognition and nine have achieved All CIF status.
Coach Lee is a graduate of cross-town rival, Redondo. Coach Lee played two years of Varsity football under former Redondo coach, Les Congeliere. Coach Lee honed his football skills playing offensive tackle and guard under then-Redondo offensive coordinator, Don Morrow. After a year’s absence from football, Coach Lee returned to his Alma Mater to coach the Redondo JV for one year. He then served two years as scout team coordinator for the Varsity squad. Then in 1992, Coach Lee joined Don Morrow at South Torrance to coach the Spartans’ JV and Varsity defensive line.
In 1993, Coach Lee accompanied Coach Morrow to Mira Costa for the first CIF Championship in Mustang football history. In addition to coaching football at Mira Costa, Coach Lee works full time at the high school in charge of campus security. Coach Lee spends his free time listening to blues music, reading, and playing golf with his friends.
Chuck Arrasmith
Varsity Offensive Line
Mira Costa welcomes the experience and expertise of Chuck Arrasmith who returns to coach the offensive line. Chuck has 39 years of coaching behind him. He has coached football, wrestling, volleyball, track and field, and baseball. Further, he has served as an athletic trainer and Chair of the Physical Education Department at Mira Costa. While he has coached many sports, football is his love. He has coached football at the high school and junior college levels and has served as Head Coach, Assistant Head Coach, and Offensive Coordinator. He has coached the offensive line, defensive line, and linebackers. Chuck has been honored by the Southern California Football Coaches Association as a recipient of the Gib Dear Award for outstanding achievement as a long- time assistant coach. Since 1991, he has coached numerous All CIF linemen at Mira Costa. In his spare time, he is a husband to his wife of 39 years, Jo Anne, and a father to his son, Scott.
Zak Krislock
Varsity Quarterbacks
The Mustangs welcome back Zak to the coaching staff of the varsity quarterbacks. Zak graduated in 1988 from South High School where he played football and baseball and led his football team to the CIF semifinals in 1986. He was an All CIF and All Bay League quarterback and pitcher.
After graduating from South, Zak attended the University of Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship. He was named All Big-8 and participated in the College World Series in 1992. Later that year, he was drafted by the Houston Astros. He played four years of minor league baseball for both the Astros and Chicago Cubs organizations.
Currently, Coach Zak lives in Redondo Beach. He is also Head Baseball Coach at Chadwick School.
Tom Wicks
Varsity Wide Receivers
This is Tom Wick’ seventh year coaching football at Mira Costa. He was Assistant Coach for the MCHS Frosh-Soph Baseball team for three years in the past.
Coach Wicks was born in Los Angeles in 1960. He played football and baseball at Aviation High School (Class of 1978). He is currently a Los Angeles Police Officer and has been with the LAPD for 23 years. He coaches football because he loves high school sports, especially football. He enjoys being a positive role model by developing young men’s football and life skills. Feeling that he has been truly blessed, Tom wishes to give back to our community.
Sean Patrick Finnerty
Varsity Defensive Coordinator
Sean Patrick Finnerty returns for a fourth year as a coach for the Mustangs. As a 2001 Mira Costa graduate, Sean was fortunate enough to be a player on the 1997 CIF Championship Team. He also went to the CIF Finals as a senior but the Mustangs fell short of the championship. After graduating from MCHS, Sean received a full scholarship to Fresno State University where he was a 3-year starter. He then played in AFL arena football. Presently, Sean lives in Manhattan Beach. He enjoys the football atmosphere that he fondly remembers as a former Mustang player, and also seeing kids progress in life athletically and otherwise.
Tim Cooper
Trainer
Tim returns for his 23rd year as Head Trainer for all Costa sports. He provides the best in health care and injury rehabilitation. He has been consistently loyal to all Mustang coaches and athletic teams. Tim serves as a confidante, good friend, strength coach, and sports psychologist to our athletes. He has been instrumental to our success and we are most fortunate to have his expertise to help support and educate our young athletes.
