Don Morrow
Varsity Head Coach

Don Morrow begins his 17th year as head coach of the Mustangs. His teams have averaged ten wins per season during his coaching tenure. The Mustangs have also been CIF finalists seven times and have won the CIF championship in both 1993 and 1997.
Coach Morrow grew up in Manhattan Beach and attended Aviation High School where he was an All CIF quarterback. He also lettered in baseball and basketball. He went on to become an All Conference quarterback at El Camino College and then became a two-year starter for California State University at Northridge. At CSUN, he earned a degree in Chemistry as well as a Teaching Credential. Currently, he teaches Chemistry for the MCHS Science Department.
Mustang teams under Coach Morrow are known for their attacking, hard-hitting defense, and a diverse, balanced offense. They strive for mistake-free football and work very hard in the kicking game. He stresses sportsmanship and “Mustang Class” while coaching football. Morrow’s teams have averaged more than five All Leaguers per season, with over 40 All Area performers during his tenure. More than 25 players have landed All CIF honors, including six CIF Players of the Year.
Coach Morrow has been married 27 years to the former Roxanne Galloro (Aviation, class of 1977). They reside in Torrance with their three boys: Taylor, Jackson, and Harrison.

Ray Lee
Varsity Defensive Coordinator

Returning from his 16th season as defensive coordinator at Mira Costa, Coach Lee also begins his 17th season as tutor to the Mustang defensive linemen. Coach Lee’s 16 seasons as defensive coordinator have been highlighted by seven CIF Final appearances and two CIF Championships. During Coach Lee’s tenure as defensive line coach, 22 of his linemen have received All League honors, eight have received All Area recognition and seven have achieved All CIF status. Coach Lee is a graduate of cross-town rival, Redondo. Coach Lee played two years of Varsity football under former Redondo coach, Les Congeliere. Coach Lee honed his football skills playing offensive tackle and guard under then-Redondo offensive coordinator, Don Morrow. After a year’s absence from football, Coach Lee returned to his Alma Mater to coach the Redondo JV for one year. He then served two years as scout team coordinator for the Varsity squad. Then in 1992, Coach Lee joined Don Morrow at South Torrance to coach the Spartans’ JV and Varsity defensive line.
In 1993, Coach Lee accompanied Coach Morrow to Mira Costa for the first championship in Mustang football history. In addition to coaching football at Mira Costa, Coach Lee works full time at the high school in charge of campus security. Coach Lee spends his free time listening to blues music, reading, and playing golf with his friends.
Chuck Arrasmith
Varsity Offensive Line

Mira Costa welcomes the experience and expertise of Chuck Arrasmith who returns to coach the offensive line. Chuck has 37 years of coaching behind him. He has coached football, wrestling, volleyball, track and field, and baseball. Further, he has served as an athletic trainer and chair of the Physical Education Department at Mira Costa. While he has coached many sports, football is his love. He has coached football at the high school and junior college levels and has served as a head coach, assistant head coach, and offensive coordinator. He has coached the offensive line, defensive line, and linebackers. Chuck has been honored by the Southern California Football Coaches Association as a recipient of the Gib Dear Award for outstanding achievement as a long-time assistant coach. Since 1991, he has coached six All CIF linemen at Mira Costa. In his spare time, he is a husband to his wife of 37 years, Jo Anne, and a father to his son, Scott.
Steve Butler
Varsity Offensive Line

The Varsity coaching staff is happy to have Steve Butler return this season. He was Mira Costa’s offensive coordinator in 1987 and offensive line coach in 2000 and 2001. Coach Butler brings a wealth of experience both from the field and the sidelines. In 1960, while at St. Francis High School, he earned a place on the First Team All CIF. At UCLA, he served as a three-year letterman (1963 - 1965), and he was a starter on the victorious 1966 Rose Bowl team.
Continuing on as a UCLA Grad Assistant in 1966, Steve has coached continuously through 2001 at both high school and college levels. His 1973 Crespi High School team was named as one of the Top 20 Teams in the country with a record of 12-1. He is also proud to be a two-time San Fernando Valley Coach of the Year.
From 2003 to 2005, Steve served as Athletic Director at West Los Angeles College. Steve is currently retired. In his free time, he and his wife, Nancy, enjoy golfing, skiing, fishing, and walking their golden retrievers.
Bill Cooper
Varsity Linebackers

The Mustang Football staff is happy to have Coach Bill Cooper return another year to coach in the football program. Bill, a former Mustang head coach in the 60s and 70s, will focus his skills on coaching the linebackers for the Mustangs. Prior to coaching, Bill started teaching at Mira Costa in 1960 and eventually became a vice-principal.
Bill’s extensive coaching experience includes 4 1/2 years as assistant head coach at Cal Berkeley. During his tenure at Cal, he witnessed the famous 5-lateral play that ran through members of the Stanford band which allowed Cal to beat rival Stanford in the last seconds of the game. Another highlight of his college career includes having the opportunity to coach seven players who went on to become NFL linebackers.
Coach Bill’s two sons and one daughter are Mira Costa alumni. His son, Kevin, was a record-setting, three-year varsity quarterback from 1994 to 1996, and twice reached the CIF finals in 1994 and 1996.
In recent years, Bill has served as Manhattan Beach School Board President. In addition to coaching again, he enjoys spending time with his four grandchildren, camping, and relaxing.
Zac Krislock
Varsity Offensive Line

The Mustangs welcome back Zac to the coaching staff as coach of the varsity wide receivers. Zac graduated in 1988 from South High School where he played football and baseball and lead his football team to the CIF semifinals in 1986. He was an All CIF and All Bay League quarterback and pitcher.
After graduating from South, Zac attended the University of Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship. He was named All Big-8 and participated in the College World Series in 1992. Later that year, he was drafted by the Houston Astros. He played four years of minor league baseball for both the Astros and Chicago Cubs organizations.
Currently, Coach Zac lives in Redondo Beach. He also coaches baseball at South High School.
Tim Cooper
Trainer

Tim returns for his 21st year as head trainer for all sports. He provides the best in health care and injury rehabilitation. He has been loyal to all coaches and athletic teams. Tim serves as a confidante, good friend, strength coach, and sports psychologist to our athletes. He has been instrumental in our success and we are most fortunate to have his expertise to help support and educate our young athletes.
