Matt Baker
JV Head Coach and Varsity Offensive Line
Matt has always lived in Southern California – beginning in Huntington Beach and then moving to Manhattan Beach. He played football for Mira Costa and fell in love with the sport. Starting for two years at center, he made All League both years and was a member of the first and second undefeated regular seasons. He was invited to play in the Annual Lions All Star Game. He attended Los Angeles Harbor College and played football there. After one season, Matt decided it wasn’t for him and decided to help teach the sport he loves so much!
Sean Patrick Finnerty
JV Defensive Coordinator
Sean Patrick Finnerty returns as a coach for the Mustangs a second year. As a 2001 Mira Costa graduate, himself, Sean was fortunate enough to be a player on the 1997 CIF Championship team. He also went to the CIF Finals as a senior but the Mustangs fell short of the championship. After graduating, Sean received a full scholarship to Fresno State University where he was a 3-year starter. He then played in AFL arena football. Presently, Sean lives in Manhattan Beach. He enjoys the football atmosphere that he remembers as a former Mustang player, and seeing kids progress in life athletically and otherwise.
