Chuck Currier
Freshman Head Coach

As Head Coach, Chuck Currier focuses on the Freshman linemen and linebackers. Chuck himself played both football and baseball at Costa and takes great pride in having been a member of the 1970 Bay League Champion football team which was coached by Bill Cooper. He is a member of the Class of '72. Chuck first coached football at Mira Costa in the fall of 1973 and has been teaching at Mira Costa for the past 16 years.
Chuck attended Cal Lutheran and Cal State Long Beach where he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in economics. He currently teaches economics at Mira Costa High School. In addition to teaching and coaching, Chuck enjoys snow skiing and surfing with his daughter, Dana, who recently graduated from Mira Costa in June.
Tom Wicks
Freshman Offensive Coordinator

This is Tom Wicks’ fifth year coaching football at Mira Costa. He was an assistant coach for the MCHS Frosh-Soph Baseball team for three years in the past.
Coach Wicks was born in Los Angeles in 1960. He played football and baseball at Aviation High School (Class of 1978). He is curently a Los Angeles Police Officer and has been with the LAPD for 21 years. He coaches football because he loves high school sports, especially football. He enjoys being a positive role model by developing young men’s football and life skills. Feeling he has been truly blessed, Tom wants to give back to our community.
Maurice "Moe" Russell
Freshman Defensive Coordinator

Coach Moe Russell is back to coach Freshman Football at Mira Costa where he is the Freshman defensive coordinator. He first coached Mustang Football back in 1998 to 2000.
Coach Russell was born in 1978 and graduated from Mira Costa in 1996. He resides in Redondo Beach and works in the retail industry. In addition to coaching Mira Costa football, Coach Russell has been sprint coach for the track team since 1997.
Frank Wicks
Freshman Wide Receivers/Defensive Backs

The Mustangs are happy to have Frank Wicks return to their coaching staff for a fourth year. Before coaching high school football, he coached at the middle school level. He has lived in the North Redondo Beach area all his life and graduated from Aviation High School. He went on to graduate from Long Beach State where he also received his teaching credential. He is a substitute for the Torrance schools and has also worked at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel for 27 years. Coach Frank is married and has three children.
Brad Angeleri
Freshman Defensive Line/Special Teams

Coach Angeleri has been involved with the Mustang Football Program since 1993 as the Varsity statistician. As a native of the South Bay, he played football at Aviation High School (class of 1978) and has been involved with high school football since 1986. This is his third year working with the Freshman Football program. Previously he coached MCHS Baseball at both the freshman and junior varsity levels from 1995 to 2002. Coach Angeleri and his wife, Lori, have been married for 27 years and have two daughters, Bradleigh (2nd grade teacher at Hermosa View School in Hermosa Beach) and Briana (junior, Arizona State University). Brad enjoys coaching high school sports, playing beach volleyball, and golfing in his free time.
Mark Toumajian
Freshman Offensive Line

Coach Mark Toumajian was born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California and is one of four siblings who have graduated from Mira Costa High School. He has an older sister, Lisa, a younger sister, Michelle and a younger brother, David. Mark graduated from Mira Costa in 1990 and San Diego State University in 1994. Coach Toumajian earned a degree in Business Finance from SDSU. He is now a Senior Vice President with Wells Fargo Advisors in Torrance where he manages wealth for individuals as well as institutions. Mark now resides in El Segundo with his wife, Leanne, their 4 year old son, Peter and 1 year old daughter, Sydney. Their hobbies include sailing, fishing and camping.
